The old lady and her precious coin

What is the true meaning of giving? I roughly remember there is a parable about a very poor, old lady who went to a sermon one day. As customary, after that, some folks would drop some money in the collection box as they leave. The old lady searched her pocket and found the only coin left on her, took it out and placed it in the box. Then the Master pointed out to his disciple that that is the difference in giving. It is not the amount that matters but the spirit of giving freely. It is very simple actually - when you are able to give freely, you are not enslaved to the materials of the world. You are indeed a free person who does not worry about tomorrow but you are always a happy person knowing you are always safe and secure. I don't think it means that you have to give everything you own away but I think He was trying to show that the lady was able to give from her heart. Have you ever given from your heart before? How does it feel? The Master has also said somewhere else that it is much, more difficult for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven than the camel to enter the eye of the needle. So I think it has something to do with the ability to let go of earthly things. It's your choice. Which one will you choose? See, it is so difficult because you have developed a false sense of security. You are afraid to lose it and as a result, you are not able to do things you like to do, or what your heart tells you to do. So, we have something to learn from the old lady and her precious coin.

P.S. I googled for the parable and realized it was a poor widow and her two precious coins....hahaha....see Luke 21:1-4.
